Children approached by man in white van

BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon Police Department is investigating two separate reports of a man approaching children Friday evening while they were alone.

In one case, two girls were walking on Boggess Street and reported that a man in a white van asked their name and questions about them, according to Chief Matt Gregory.

“He made them feel uncomfortable and they walked away,” he said.

That same evening, a boy at Stockert Youth Center reported that a man in a white van had also asked his name and tried to talk to him.

The boy also felt uncomfortable and walked away, according to Gregory.
