PHILIPPI— Henry “Ron” Curkendall, 87, a resident of Volga, passed away at his home on March 14, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice. He was born Sept. 23, 1925 in Century, a son of the late Marvin and Bessie (Payne) Curkendall.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Tula (Karickhoff) Curkendall; one daughter: Linda Wagner and husband Norman of Elkins, two grandchildren: Cory “Ron” Wagner and Lydia Jones and husband Grant all of Elkins, one sister: Joann Simons of Williamsport, Ohio; four brothers: Deward Curkendall and wife Rose of Painesville, Ohio, Blair Curkendall and wife Jean, Gary Curkendall and wife Judy, Max Curkendall and wife Sharon all of Parkersburg, sister-in-law Mary Curkendall of Parkersburg.
Mr. Curkendall was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Smearman, and Beryl Hall, three brothers, Wayne, Kenny and John Curkendall.
Ron was a heavy equipment operator having last worked at King Knob Coal. Mr. Curkendall was an active member of the Queen’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Volga.
Mr. Curkendall was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved feeding the birds, sitting in his front porch, maintaining his lawn, and delighted in seeing his grandchildren and their favorite dog Wesley. He will be truly missed by all.
Friends were received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday March 15, from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday March 16, from 8 a.m. -2 p.m. the service hour with Rev. Randy Simms officiating.
Entombment followed in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Mausoleum.
