Donald S. Kennedy Sr.

TENNERTON — Donald S. Kennedy Sr., 69, of Rt. 2, French Creek, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home under the care of his family and People’s Hospice. He was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Kanawha County, a son of the late Randall A. and Lottie Mae Comer Kennedy. He was united in marriage on June 14, 1962, to Judy Elmore Kennedy, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his stepmother, Flossie Kennedy; six children: Donna and husband Dave Bachman of Summersville, Anita and husband Jeff Collins of Cleveland, Pam and husband Rob Collins of Silver Springs, Md., Kay and husband Dave Pyle of Greenfield, Ind., Steven Kennedy of Martinsburg, and Betty and husband Owen Jones of Pickens; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Karen Kennedy of Clendenin, Joyce Harrah of Charleston, and Brenda West of Walton; and four brothers: James Kennedy of Madison, Joe Kennedy of Huntsville, Ala., Timothy Kennedy of Georgia and Billy Kennedy of Big Chimney. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Kennedy was a former member of the Georgia Avenue Baptist Church in Silver Springs, Md., where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the New Life Southern Baptist Church in Weston, where he also served as a deacon. He loved to fish and to hunt, to help others, and most of all, he loved his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today, Friday, March 29, 2013, from 5-8 p.m., at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 10 a.m., at the New Life Southern Baptist Church with Pastor David Riddle officiating. Interment will follow in the Hodam Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Life Southern Baptist Church at 206 Glady Fork Road, Weston, WV 26452.
