BUCKHANNON — The woman indicted for rocking a 12-day-old infant too hard causing serious bodily injury in 2010 pled guilty to a lesser charge Wednesday in Upshur County Circuit Court.
Beth Ann Harris, 24, of Buckhannon, pled guilty to child abuse resulting in bodily injury, a felony, a lesser included offense of her indictment. The charge removed the word “serious,” and meant the possible sentence would be one to five years and not two to 10 years in prison.
Prosecuting attorney Jake Reger said that the investigation showed that Harris had rocked the child too hard.
A statement from Harris said that she was upset at the time the incident occurred.
