TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers reeled off three straight wins against Big Ten Conference opponents, pulling their record above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The Bucs won in dramatic fashion Monday, defeating the East Fairmont Bees on the road, 5-3, then swept a doubleheader from the Robert C. Byrd Eagles at home Wednesday. The Bucs won the opener 20-1 and the night cap 13-3, stopping both games in five innings on account of the 10-run “mercy” rule.

With the trio of wins, the Bucs improved to 6-5 overall and 5-1 against Big Ten opponents heading into today’s game at University. They will return home Saturday to host sectional foe Hampshire at 1 p.m. at William E. Phillips Memorial Field.
