BUCKHANNON Local firefighters had the chance to train on a realistic fire simulator trailer last week that mimics conditions they might find in a real fire.
The WVU Fire Extension brought in its mobile burning unit to the Buckhannon Fire Department Thursday and members of the Upshur County Citizen Fire Academy received a tour and first-hand look at how the unit operates.
Earlier in the meeting, George Stump, an assistant chief with the Buckhannon Volunteer Fire Department, provided a little background about the department.
We are truly the only Upshur County Volunteer Fire Department, he said.
What that means is that the BVFD is the true fire department for the Upshur County Commission, which owns two trucks that respond to calls in the county.
