Wesleyan Class of 2013 bids school adios

West Virginia Wesleyan celebrated its 123rd annual commencement on Saturday by welcoming home alumnae Christine R. Cox as its commencement speaker.

The commencement ceremonies took place in the John D. Rockefeller IV Physical Education Center.

Cox, a 1969 Wesleyan graduate and a former board of trustees member from 1998 to this year, talked to Wesleyan’s 275 graduates about “Finding Their Voice — A Lifelong Journey.”

Cox told the graduates that they are always on a journey and their most recent journey was when they first stepped foot on Wesleyan’s campus as freshmen.

“I think what happened to you here on your Wesleyan journey, was you found your voice,” Cox said. “What do I mean by that? We have a desire to understand and express who we are, what we have a passion about, what we can contribute and believe in, and to use that understanding to make a difference.
