BUCKHANNON — “We don’t want to make a farce out of this,” remarked Buckhannon Mayor Kenny Davidson in regard to how city council was going to handle filling a vacant council seat.
In the discussion that followed, council went back and forth during a brisk 7 minute discussion on how they should proceed.
In the end, council decided not to interview any of the six people who submitted letters of interest in the position and appointed local attorney Thomas O’Neill to replace former councilman Scott Preston by a 3-to-2 vote.
O’Neill was one of the six people who had submitted letters expressing interest in the opening.
