Officials tight-lipped as county administrator resigns after 21 years

Posted: Saturday, May 11th, 2013

BUCKHANNON — The Upshur County Commission quietly accepted the resignation of long-time county administrator William “Willie” Parker on Thursday.

In a brief one-sentence resignation letter, Parker wrote, “As per my discussion with Donnie R. Tenney, president of the county commission, on Monday, May 6, 2013, I hereby submit this letter of resignation effective on the above date.”

The resignation was effective Wednesday, May 8.

During Thursday morning’s meeting, commissioner J.C. Raffety made a motion to defer action on the resignation pending the commission’s

1 p.m. executive session with attorneys Timothy Stranko and Shannon Smith, of Kay, Casto and Chaney.
