Bucs walk off with sectional title

CLASS AAA REGION II, SECTION 4 CHAMPIONS — The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer baseball team captured their first sectional title since 2008 last Thursday, sweeping a best-of-three series from the Lewis County Minutemen with a 6-5 win in game two. TENNERTON — The top of the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers’ batting order delivered once again Thursday in dramatic fashion to clinch the 2013 Class AAA Region II, Section 4 baseball championship.

B-U first baseman Corey Reed hit a walk-off, RBI double to the wall in left-center field, driving in Bryson Fluke, who bunted for a single to lead off the seventh inning, for the game-winning run Thursday in a 6-5 win. With the win, the Bucs swept their best-of-three sectional series against the Minutemen and won their first sectional championship since 2008.
