A method to March Madness

BUCKHANNON ó†As he crisscrossed the map while watching his fatherís team advance to the national championship game of the NCAA Menís Basketball Tournament, West Virginia Wesleyan College menís basketball coach Patrick Beilein did a lot more than just cheer on his father John Beileinís Michigan Wolverines.

After the conclusion of his own season coaching the Bobcats, Patrick Beilein took to the road for three straight weekends of March Madness action, traveling to Auburn Hills, Mich., Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Ga. for tournament games. But what the Wesleyan coach most fondly remembered from his all-access view of his fatherís tournament run was not the Wolverinesí overtime nail-biter, their battles between All-American players and legendary coaches, or even the pressure of facing massive crowds and throngs of media members.
