BUCKHANNON — Eighty-six civilian employees at the West Virginia Army National Guard will be affected by the planned furloughs under the Department of Defense beginning July 8.
According to information from Lt. Col. David P. Lester, public affairs officer with the West Virginia National Guard, 76 civilians at the United States Property and Fiscal Office and 10 from the Field Maintenance Shop will be furloughed for 88 hours, or 11 days, between July and September.
“The Secretary of Defense gave notice to start furloughing the federal civilian work force beginning on July 8, 2013,” Lester said. “All National Guard technicians and activities they support will be affected.”
The West Virginia National Guard will have 946 employees affected, according to Lester.
