Dannie Lee Brown

TENNERTON — Dannie Lee Brown, 71, a resident of Mt. Nebo Road, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Monongalia General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Clarksburg, on August 22, 1941, the son of the late Daniel Brooks Brown and Mary Magdalene Wright Brown.

Dannie grew up in Hilltop Camp and Bingamon. He was graduated from high school in Mannington. He loved running heavy equipment and was happiest moving a pile of dirt. For many years, he was the owner and operator of Brown’s Construction in Mannington and a contractor for Hope Consolidated Gas Company.

On Feb. 14, 1995, he was married to Joyce Harsh Brown, who survives. Also surviving are his step children, Lynn Harsh and companion Neva Moss, Carla Griekspoor and husband Allen; Lee Brown and wife Lisa, Tom Brown and wife Crystal, Cheryl Harvey and husband Jeff, and the mother of his children, Carol Brown. Mr. Brown is also survived by eight grandchildren: Seth Brown and companion Marci Bucher, Brandon and Jessica Harvey, Nikki Brown, Katelyn Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Justin Hayhurst, Nathan Griekspoor, and Marin Griekspoor; and two great-grandchildren: Kolson Brown and Lexi Harvey. He was predeceased by his stepson, Greg Harsh and two grandchildren: Curtis Harsh and Jacob Harsh.

Dannie was a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 1736 and Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598.

Friends may call on Friday, June 7, 2013, from 5-8 p.m., at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel, where the B.P.O.E. Lodge 1736 will conduct an Elks Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the funeral chapel with Pastor David Harris Sr. and Pastors Lee and Tom Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery near Belington, West Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Assembly Church of God Camp Hosanna, 2701 Logwood Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554.
