BUCKHANNON — Marie “Opal” Hill will celebrate her 100th birthday on July 7. Raised at Kesling Mill in Upshur County as Marie Opal Winans, she is one of eight children. Her twin sisters, Betty Wagner and Beaty Miller, still reside there. She first married Herbert Hinkle in 1936. After his passing, she married Boyd Hill in 1977. She has one son, Carl D. Hinkle, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Opal has always loved gardening and is especially proud of her rhubarb and tomatoes.
A special 100th birthday party is planned for this miraculous lady at the Kesling Mill Community Building on Saturday, July 6 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. When asked about having a party her reply was “it doesn’t matter as long as we are together.” So, please come and celebrate this special time with Opal and wish her a Happy Birthday.
If you are unable to join Opal on this day, please send her birthday wish to 77 West Lincoln St., Buckhannon. Receipt of birthday cards would bring her much joy - and to receive 100 of them would be fantastic!
The Kesling Mill Community Building is located approximately two miles from Corridor H along the Kesling Mill Road at the intersection with Childers’s Run Road.
