Members of the late Tom Dunn’s family, State Senator Sam Cann (D-Harrison) and students from the first annual Tom Dunn Energy Leadership Academy display a road sign for a stretch of Route 20 that will now be known as the Thomas B. Dunn Memorial Highway. Pictured in the front row are Mark Cunningham, Grant Cunningham, Traci Dunn-Cunningham, Carol Dunn and Cann.

BUCKHANNON — A large crowd gathered at the Microtel Inn and Suites Wednesday morning to honor a local oil and gas industry pioneer during a highway dedication for the late Thomas B. Dunn.

The stretch of highway on State Route 20 from mile post 26 (at the intersection of Rt. 20 and Rt. 33) to mile post 27 will now be known as the “Thomas B. Dunn Memorial Highway.”

Dunn, a third generation member of his family to work in the oil and gas industry, was a leader and mentor to many in the community and the industry.

He passed away from cancer in April 2012.
