BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon man who took his two children with him on a joy ride while under the influence of synthetic drugs entered a plea agreement Wednesday in Upshur County Circuit Court.
Edward Matthew Williams, 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of child neglect creating a risk of serious bodily injury, felonies, and joy riding. The plea stemmed from the January incident in which police said Williams broke into two different homes, stealing firearms and a pick-up truck.
With his two children, then 2-years-old and 8-months-old, Williams then drove the truck for a couple hours around a field and up a steep, snow-covered hill before eventually turning himself over to law enforcement.
