Music a big hit at 2013 edition of the Upshur County Fair

Little Roy and Lizzy entertained the crowd on the opening night of the Upshur County Fair Friday.

BUCKHANNON — Bluegrass music from the famed Little Roy and Lizzy Show kicked off the 2013 edition of the Upshur County Fair in Rock Cave Friday.

Local officials from the City of Buckhannon, Upshur County and the state level were on hand to welcome fairgoers at the opening ceremonies.

City councilman Ron Pugh said when he went into the military, he was anxious to leave town.

“I couldn’t wait to get out of Buckhannon and Upshur County,” he said. “But I couldn’t wait to get back after I spent my four years in the military.

“There is no better place to raise a kid like Buckhannon and Upshur County,” he said.

Del. Bill Hamilton, R-Upshur, introduced the guest speaker, Del. Dayna Lynch, D-Webster.
