BUCKHANNON — “Get Dirty and Be Challenged.”
That is the tagline for the Buckhannon Fire Department’s first annual 5 Alarm Mud Run fundraising event scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24.
The event will be held on the Hardman Road, about five miles east of Buckhannon on Route 33, at 10 a.m.
The decision to bring the ever-growing sport of mud running to Buckhannon was based on the BFD looking for new ideas to help raise funds.
“Some of the fundraisers we have been doing have been in existence for 20-plus years,” BFD Chief Mitch Tacy said. “Our demographics have changed, the people who support us have changed and society has changed. We are just trying to take a new twist and do something a little different for our fundraisers.”
