There’s a new judge in town

WESTON — The newly appointed 26th Judicial Circuit judge is scheduled to be in Upshur County today for his first official judicial act.

Judge Kurt Hall said he will be presiding over a juvenile matter today at the Upshur County Courthouse.

Hall was sworn in Friday by senior status Judge John Henning during a brief ceremony at the new judicial annex in Weston. Hall thanked governor Earl Ray Tomblin, who appointed him to fill the seat left vacant when Judge Thomas Keadle retired earlier this year.

The office will be on the ballot for the 2014 general election.

“I appreciate [the governor’s] faith in me and I appreciate the decision he made,” Hall said, recognizing the other qualified candidates who also were in the running for the seat.
