BUCKHANNON — Federal authorities recently presented a check for more than $700,000 to the Greater Harrison County Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force as a ‘down payment’ on its share of assets recovered in the Jeffrey Paglia “Hot Stuff, Cool Things” drug investigation.
Now the City of Buckhannon wants a piece of that pie and has crafted a letter requesting that a portion of the remaining assets be directed to Upshur County.
However, U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II’s office is staying mum on the matter and has thus far made no indications that Buckhannon could be in line for any of the seized assets. Chris Zumpetta-Parr, the United States Attorney’s Office supervisory paralegal specialist and public information officer, declined to comment when contacted by The Record Delta on Monday.
