CHARLESTON — The Fairmont State Falcons opened the second half on a 12-2 run to take the lead for good against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats in the quarterfinals of the Mountain East Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament, beating Wesleyan 70-62 Friday and perhaps ending the Bobcats’ season.

The Bobcats’ hopes for a NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament berth suffered a major blow with the loss, as the team ended the tournament with a 20-12 overall record. Fairmont State advanced to play league champion West Liberty in the semifinals and lost 97-87.
