IRELAND — Richard McKinley Cogar, 64, of Ireland, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, March 24, 2014. He was born Feb. 17, 1950 in Wildcat. Preceding him in death are his parents, Arden McKinley and Sarah Mae Lake Cogar, three sisters and one brother.
Richard is survived by his children, Michael (Cindy) Cogar of Ill.; Angela (David) Crain of Red Bud, Ill.; Jody (Jimmy) Linger of Bellefontaine, Ohio; Kelley (Wes) Horner of Roanoke, and Laura (Jamie) Eagle of Ireland; 17 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Wanda Fisher and Spencer Cogar both of Orlando; Shirley McCusy of Arizona; Lucy Cogar of Dianna; James Cogar of Roanoke; Gene Cogar of Ireland; Randy Cogar and Linda Lee both of Belington.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alkire Funeral Chapel in Ireland, where services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014. Burial will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery.
