BRIDGEPORT — West Virginia Wesleyan College softball’s star senior pitcher Hannah Hudson was named Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, March 15. Hudson pitched four complete games as part of the Bobcats spring break trip to Florida. The Blackstone, Va., native pitched a total of 27 innings over that span, which included a complete-game shutout versus Mercyhurst on March 7 with seven strikeouts. The senior then completed seven innings of work versus Concordia-St. Paul, only surrendering three hits, while striking out four.
Hudson collected her second win of the week back on Friday, March 11 when she struck out nine Indiana, Pa. hitters, only allowing one earned run in seven innings on the mound.
Hudson garnered MEC Pitcher of the Week honors after recording 28 total strikeouts, while only walking five batters and allowing four earned runs in the Bobcats’ games last week.
So far this season, Hudson is putting together a strong senior campaign, already boating a 4-1 overall record. Her winning record is complemented by outstanding stats, highlighted by 1.02 earned run average and 46 total strikeouts through five starts.
The Bobcats are slated to start the conference portion of their schedule, with MEC play set to begin on Saturday, March 19 at home versus the Fairmont State University Falcons.
