Lady Bobcats narrowly secure first victory of the year, beating Salem, 78-77

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats basketball team rebounded from their loss in the opener by securing their first victory of the season when they beat Salem in Buckhannon Wednesday night.

The Lady Bobcats defended their home court in a hotly contested game. Fueled by strong performances from both Cierra Tolbert and Electra Allembert, the Lady Bobcats scraped out a 78-77 victory. Tolbert scored 17 points and pulled down 18 rebounds, while Allembert added 17 points and 11 rebounds. The two proved to be a potent duo offensively and gave the Lady Bobcats the boost they needed to get in the win column.

The duo of Tolbert and Allembert was complemented by Symphonie Bryant-Brown who scored 14 points, dished out three assists, and registered three steals, as well as a well-balanced rotation of scorers.

The Lady Bobcats will now turn their focus to their Mountain East Conference opener against Frostburg State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
